Spades & Chandeliers

For the past few years, I’ve developed a serious affinity for my home experience. When I say home experience, I mean how being in my living space makes me feel, from the things I cook and eat, to the aesthetics, comfort and function of the things around me.

I’ve been following Black chefs and interior designers on Instagram for quite some time, and I have been blown away with the talent I’ve seen. What’s been disappointing, though, is that I haven’t found a single source about the whole home experience (think, Better Homes & Garden or Martha Stewart) that includes inspiration and ideas for both decorĀ andĀ recipes, all from the perspectives of Black people. That’s where this column comes in. Here’s you’ll find all things related to the home experience that are in some way, shape or form, from the Black perspective.
