This past weekend, I headed to Chicago for Blavity’s second annual EmpowerHer Conference. Being the huge introvert that I am, and knowing I’d never be able to follow half the advice I’ve previously given on making the most of conference experiences, I made the trip to the Windy City anyway. I’m glad I did. While the conference was mainly for black millennial women, there were a lot of gems dropped that really any young, Black person could benefit from hearing.
To recap the conference, I’ve included some of my favorite quotes below, along with a Twitter moment from my personal account. Read. Digest. Use (in whatever way makes sense for you).
Zim Ugochukwu, Founder/CEO @Travelnoire:
**Tap into your personal power.
**Get into the mindset of execution.
**You can’t give if you ain’t got
Alex Wolf, Writer/Host @alexwolfco:
**If you’re trying to get to success, you have to sit through the ugliness; sit through the discomfort.
**Live as if you already have the medal; act official now.
Nikisha Brunson, Owner @FolieApothecary:
**Find joy in figuring things out.
**Learn how to tune into who you are.
**Your happiness comes from knowing who you are and living that out daily.
**Be gentle with yourself.
**You have something to give that only you can give.
